Biography

Tony Amendola was born on August 24[2] in New Haven, Connecticut.[1] His mother originates from the town of Amalfi in Italy. Tony is fluent in Italian and Spanish.[3] As the first in his family to attend college, acting was the last thing on his mind. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University in 1974, he studied and earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in 1977 at Philadelphia's Temple University.[4] In 1978, he moved to Los Angeles to find work in film and television. Though this move was originally meant to be temporary, he lives there with his wife, Judith Marx[4] to this day.[5]

His best known and widely diverse roles on television include the antagonistic Santos Jimenez on Showtime's grisly drama Dexter, Bra'tac in part military and science fiction series Stargate, and two different character roles in The Mask of Zorro and its sequel. Tony's other science fiction and fantasy roles have branched out to The She-Wolf of London, Space: Above and Beyond, Poltergeist:The Legacy, The X-Files, Crusade and Star Trek: Voyager.

Tony is also a theater-trained actor, and he has a long history of stage performances. Some of these include American Buffalo as Teach, Othello as Iago, Filumena as Domenico and Taming of the Shrew as Petruchio.[5]
