Tim Phillipps was born on February 16, 1989 in the capital city of Adelaide, South Australia. He has two siblings, television interviewer Josh, and actress Libby. In 2006, Tim became a finalist in the search for a star competition in one of Australia's most popular magazines, Dolly, where he caught the attention of casting director Jan Russ. She quickly cast him in Neighbours, playing the recurring role of Fox in the popular series. In 2007, Tim continued his steady climb up the Australian entertainment ladder with a guest role in Nine Network's hard-hitting gangland drama Underbelly. Tim was then cast in his largest Australian television role, ABC 's contemporary drama Bed of Roses as supporting lead.
In the last two years, Tim has had great success in the United States. He landed his first lead role in the independent feature Liars All, opposite many of Hollywood's talented young up and comers as well as the lead character Dante in Devil May Cry, a motion capture video game feature. In late 2011, Tim received his first U.S. recurring television role on the ABC series Once Upon a Time, which led to a recurring role on The CW's The Secret Circle. His career moved to film when he booked lead roles in horror film Chasing the Devil and Australian movie Lemon Tree Passage.
