Well, this hasn't been the first discussion of Henry on here, lol.
First, my opinion on Henry is that he's alright. He brings everyone together and he is the pinpoint for whatever moral the show is trying to push on us. He has transitioned from the early sweet little kid to the annoying moralistic, yet reasonable brat to intriguing plot line to being the SB gang's mascot and cheerleader.
1. People are being a too biased toward Regina and more so in season 2, he seems like he bosses people around. I dont know about others but its "Child bossing parent in grocery store" awkward. Therefore, some tend to dislike that phase of him. Gave him character, so that was a plus.
2. Henry in S2 was the focal point of spouting morals. People get on Snow, but Henry was much worse than Snow on "Hope! Believe in yourself! I thought you were a hero!" Guess we know what side his morality came from. He isnt as black and white now, but he reflects the show. The show has grey moments in it's rather black and white view of things.
3. His voice is totally fine. His acting, however, isn't spectacular, but is totally tolerable and it adds its own charm to his performance because Henry is actually probably in puberty, lol.
Oh, and Henry didn't ignore Emma. He simply spent a little more onscreen time with Regina. It would actually appear that Henry was more with Regina in 4a, but with Emma in 4b, in shared custody. It was just that Emma was all over the place in season 4, whereas Regina sort of stayed in her vault or office the entire time and alone lol in 4a.
