Have you ever thought that Season 4 could be the last season of the show. There are enough viewers to get to at least season 7, but storyline wise, it appears that the show could end after this season. Think about this: The main quest of the whole show is Emma’s quest for home. Her main conflict was having love and family. At the end of season 3, she was able to accept that all of these characters are not just icons, but they are real. They have their own lives, struggles, and hardships. And Emma realizes that they are not just part of our world, they are part of her world, and are her family. She is now able to call David and Mary Margaret by mom and dad without feeling awkward and she does it because she wants to. And now she is opening herself up now to the possibility of love with Hook. Now we are going to have an entire season of Emma accepting Storybrooke as her permanent home. Storybrooke is also now the only home for its inhabitants, the town is here to stay.
There aren’t that many more villains to use. And this season seems to be telling some of the last mysteries out there, such as: the origins of the Dark One, Maleficent’s storyline (most likely the Black Fairy) and with that comes the origins of the fairies most likely, and the actual writer of Henry’s book. The writer is one of the biggest mysteries ever, and I doubt the mystery would be solved during the season that’s not the final one. With Maleficent and Aurora coming back, the story about Philip’s soul be returned will most likely be told about. Cruella de Vil will probably be in this season because she was supposed to in season 3. Also, Jared Gilmore recently said that this season, Henry will truly find out who he is, what his purpose is, and where he stands as a person.
The only thing I can think of that can be against my theory is the possibility of Camelot being the main plot of 5A. But the Camelot story could be tied something in season 4 somehow.
Remember, a story doesn’t have to be long to be great. As long as it ends amazingly, it can stop at four seasons. For example, I loved Wonderland and it was only one season (the way it was supposed to be, it had a good ending).
What do you think?
