  • I am still rather confused regarding who holds/held the true power in wonderland, the two ruling parties being the Playing cards Queen of hearts and The Chessboard Red monarchy.

Now of course they could have ruled over seperate areas, but when the Red King presented Ana as his Queen, he spoke to the 'people of wonderland', and the Red Queen later greatly implied, if not outright stated that Wonderland was hers, Does that maze garden lead to both Palaces? and did Cora ever actually have any real power? im sure it's been mentioned that she took over wonderland which would imply she became the highest authority, though the Red king diddn't seem to like her, though did not Question her power.

Is it that Cora is the Sole holder of 'Queen of hearts' and she herself built the palace, or was their a previous Queenof hearts? Judging by the crown jewlels, it seems plausible that the Red monarchy had been thier for some time and it seems more sociable with the people.

Not sure where I'm going with this, but I would like to hear ideas on how the power in wonderland worked.

    • Cora was an implant to Wonderland. Probably built her own castle and set herself up as a Queen. And with her power, who would stop her?

Now, did she actually rule anyone? That's debateable XD Honestly, I don't really think so. I think she styled herself as Queen, asserted her dominance, and was accorded respect.

At the point where most of the Wonderland events are occuring, Cora is in the Enchanted Forest. She's a non player at the time, so the Red Queen was (likely) the only "monarch", official or otherwise.

    • actually makes sense, i like that idea, so you think the title of 'queen of hearts' was held soley by cora?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • I think that title specifically belonged to Cora, definitely. I remember Will expressed knowledge about Cora's notoriety for ripping out hearts, which was what prompted him in the first place to ask her to rip out his. So, in a sense, I think non-royals and the commoners of Wonderland knew what Cora was capable of. They may have been afraid of her because of it, and from fear comes respect to stay out of trouble, perhaps? I can see other royals not objecting to Cora as Queen of Hearts because they didn't have the resources or power to stop/take her down.

    • Just noticed, she had a vast collection of hearts that she took from people, likely how she got the idea for the name, but i cant recall, when hook visited her, was Will the knave that was present?

        Preparing Editor Spell
    • No, it was the same man from "Hat Trick". She may have had multiple knaves. We saw Will acting in a capacity similar to the other solider-type dudes he was with.

    • Perhaps "Queen of Hearts" isn't meant to be monarchal. I mean, she rips people's hearts out. XD Maybe it started out as a fear-induced nomer that she adopted. Definitely something Cora would do.

    • I also think she gained special privileges from owning that title. Or, maybe she forced her power onto other people. It wouldn't be very hard for Cora to rip out the hearts of people in Wonderland, and then control them into working for her as her servants and adoring audience. That's what I think of in "Hat Trick" when I see that she has everything and all the people waiting on her obey without question.

    • Yeah, so she was self imposed royalty, The Red King tolerated her, but the people, though fearful of cora where loyal to the Red monarchy, would this imply that the Red monarchy are the natural sole rulers in wonderland? and they can change to adopt the white title as it suits them? I noticed the Red King seemed to prefer wearing the colour white.

And would this also mean that cora was just forcing her will upon the people, always wanting royalty, and therefore her army were likely just mercenaries?

    • I assume her army worked for her out of fear and respect. Hell, she probably paid them, like an y army'force. Will Scarlett chose to serve her, after all, I'm sure he's not the only one.

I would say that the Red King, and his family or group or whatever, were the actual power in Wonderland, and Cora stood outside of it. They clearly had a truce and mutual respect. It made sense to me that Anastasia would want to cast aside the "Red Queen" and all the terrible things she did and give herself a new moniker. And when you have power like that, you can du such things XD

All Cora ever wanted was power. She had that in Wonderland. She wanted to be a Queen, so she styled herself as one.

    • He chose to serve her, but he also didn't have much choice to disobey. She took his heart, so he absolutely had to obey her orders. I guess you could say that's *if* he chose to not obey her, and money is a valuable reward to have in return if he did choose to be employed under her.

    • True, but I don't think Cora really exterted that much force over someone often, at least in Wonderland. I don't think she needed to, really. It's not as fun, in a way, lol. The people already feared her, we can assume. Fear is an excellent motivator.

And I don't think she needed to, with Will. Serving the Queen of Hearts gave him a purpose.

    • I wonder if she cared at all by the time she noticed Will's heart was gone from the vault, lol. Or did she think, "Oh, well, that one got away. I still have 999 more hearts to use." XD

    • As Summary. Cora was a power hungry Tyrant, after using her daughter to gain power in the enchanted forest, the daughter (regina) pushed her through the looking glass before Cora could grip any real power. She landed in Womderland, and using her dark powers quickly gained the fear of the people, and she styled herself a Queen, due to her hobby of heart collecting, the Queen of hearts and built herself a palace and raised an army of soldiers to be her styled knights or whatever who were likely mercanaries, convicts and disgraced royal militia, who served her out of fear and the fact it got them money.

She was not ever really in control of anything, the people of wonderlands affections and loyalty where to Wonderlands true Rulers, the Red monarchy, who likely goverened and had true control, Cora was more a powerful tyrant who forced her ideals and self fantasy of royalty onto wonderland why ceremonial pomp, even creating ranks such as knave, holding a truce with the Red King, although he never seemed to like her and she seemed to have a similar position as her daughter did, in that, she had power through fear yet the people likely did not like her, difference being Regina had a right to rule, Cora had none, and likely used influence over The Red Queen in hopes of someday gaining more true power, although the people seemed to like Ana more than regina.

So with Cora gone, I'm assuming that her palace will just remain, unless the monarchy learn of Cora's death after which, they will likely have it removed and her armies will likely scatter.

      This make sense??
