Steven Bacic is the Canadian actor who portrays Grendel/Handsome Man on ABC's Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.
Biography
Steve Bacic was born on March 13, 1965 in Croatia and raised in Windsor, Ontario.[1] Having grown up in a blue-collar town, acting was not his first choice. He was hired as a local model in his younger years and has a great interest in sports.[2] After high school, Steve earned an honors degree in kinesiology from the University of Windsor[3] with a future goal of becoming a coach or physical therapist in professional sports. By age twenty-five, he was the owner of an auto refurnishing business, but a road-trip with friends to Vancouver sparked his interest in acting. A year later, Steve relocated to Vancouver to begin taking acting classes while working as a waiter. Luckily, he gained the acquaintance of fellow actors Ethan Hawke and Stephen Dorff, both of whom offered him extra work in their movies that were being shot in town. More extra gigs followed, and then actual auditions, which led to Steve’s first television guest-star role on 21 Jump Street. He went on to do other guest spots on such series as Street Justice, The Commish, Highlander, Call of the Wild, Stargate: SG-1 and several episodes of The X-Files.[2] Some of his most notable roles on television are as Telemachus Rhade on the science-fiction hit Andromeda and a five-episode appearance as Barin on Flash Gordon. In addition, Steve has appeared in such films as The 6th Day, X2: X-Men United and Stakeout 2.[2]
He and his wife Carlin[1] have three children together.[4]
