Ryan Robbins is the Canadian actor who portrays Sir Morgan on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Biography

Ryan John Currier, better known as Ryan Robbins, was born on November 26,[1] 1972 in Victoria, British Columbia, British Columbia.[2] He attended arts oriented schools where he wrote, produced, directed and starred in high-school productions and had his first taste of Shakespeare at the age of twelve.[3]

After high school, Ryan began his professional career as a circus performer; traveling to Australia to perform. Longing for a new creative outlet, he moved back to Canada and in Vancouver, helped form an experimental band, Hellenkeller. He was discovered by a local filmmaker who launched his career into the world of film and television.[3]

Ryan is known for his roles as Ladon Radim in Stargate Atlantis, Charlie Connor on Battlestar Galactica, and Henry Foss on Sanctuary. He is the only actor to have played two different characters in Battlestar Galactica, having originally starred in the miniseries, with heavy makeup and prosthetics to age him, as the Colonial officer assigned to Armistice Station before the Second Cylon War. He also guest starred on a number of television shows, such as Smallvilles third-season premiere as Lewis, Diego in the Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica, jPod as Alistair Parish and as Wendell on the Canadian series The Guard. In 2011, he played the role of John Grey in the film Apollo 18. He starred as Rand in Riese, Brad Tonkin in Continuums third season and Tector in Falling Skies, in addition to recently appearing in Mortal Kombat: Legacy as Raiden. He also played Fletch in the first episode of Wolf Lake.

He was previously married to actress Rebecca Reichert from 2002 to 2010, and they have one daughter. Currently, he is married to actress Karyn Michelle Baltzer.[4]

Trivia

  • His name was changed to Ryan Robbins when he was six years old after his mother married his stepfather, whose surname is Robbins, had legally adopted Ryan and had his surname changed.[5]
