Rose McIver is the New Zealand actor who portrays Tinker Bell on ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Biography

Frances Rose[3] McIver was born on October 10,[1] 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand to ceramicist Ann "Annie" Coney and photographer John George "Mac" Whitfield McIver and raised in the suburb of Titirangi.[2] She has one older brother named Paul, who is an actor and musician.

Her first role in the acting business was at age two in a television commercial and went on, at age three, to take up a part in the 1993 film The Piano and other acting gigs as a child star.[4] She has a knack for running[5] as well as writing by gathering creative motivation from authors like John Steinbeck, Wally Lamb and Franz Kafka.[4] After starring in the New Zealand 2009 film The Lovely Bones, she enrolled at the University of Auckland to study various subjects including psychology, anthropology and linguistics, that helped garner potential to strengthen her own acting abilities.[4] While actively shooting the 2010 film Predictament, Rose juggled both university classes and an acting career with school grades suffering as a downside, though she stated what was most important is exploring topics of interest and not worrying about coming up on top all the time.[4]

When she is not on a filming set, Rose seeks out secondary work in babysitting and importing bananas with Fair Trade as a part-time job as a necessary means to pay bills. Deciding the school arts degree could wait, she made a spontaneous move to Wellington in 2010 with architect boyfriend Benjamin Hoeksema.[2][4] Currently, she resides in Los Angeles with actor Fleur Saville.[6]
