Rabbit Holes are portals featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. They first appear in the first episode.

History

Before First Curse

As a young child, a curious girl named Alice follows the White Rabbit down one of these holes from her home in Victorian England, ending up in his home realm of Wonderland. After experiencing many fascinating adventures in this land, Alice returns to Victorian England and tells her father all about Wonderland. However, he doesn't believe her. ("Down the Rabbit Hole")

Years later, she travels down a rabbit hole to Wonderland once again, planning to kidnap the White Rabbit and bring him home as proof to her father of Wonderland's existence. This plan is eventually put aside when she falls in love with Cyrus, but after his apparent death at the hands of the Red Queen, she returns to Victorian England through a rabbit hole, heartbroken. ("Down the Rabbit Hole", "Who's Alice")

After First Curse

After the Red Queen kidnaps his wife and two children, the White Rabbit is forced to follow her commands to keep his family from being killed. He uses a rabbit hole to travel to Storybrooke in the Land Without Magic, which has recently become magical thanks to Mr. Gold, to seek out Will Scarlet and gain his assistance to get Alice back to Wonderland. Will and the Rabbit then travel to Victorian England, where Alice has been sent to the Bethlem Asylum to undergo a procedure to forget all about Wonderland. They rescue her and convince her that Cyrus may still be alive, giving her a reason to not go through with the procedure. The White Rabbit then opens up a new rabbit hole, which the three jump through to go to Wonderland. ("Down the Rabbit Hole", "Home", "A Land Without Magic")

Still blackmailed by the Red Queen, the White Rabbit is kidnapped by Tweedledee and forced by Jafar to tell him a person that Alice loves and then use a rabbit hole to take him to this person: Edwin, her father, in Victorian England. Jafar takes Edwin with him back to Wonderland and coldly dismisses the White Rabbit, whose services are no longer required. ("Who's Alice")

After the Red Queen breaks off her alliance with Jafar, she manages to convince Alice and Cyrus to allow her to join them but is in danger of being killed by a magical storm summoned by Jafar. Once she is convinced, Alice requests that the White Rabbit dig a hole for them to use to escape the storm, but he is interrupted when the storm's lightning is accidentally reflected by the Red Queen into Will. ("Home")

When Alice and Cyrus are married, the White Rabbit transports many Wonderland inhabitants, including his family, Will, Anastasia, and Tweedledum, to Victorian England and back using rabbit holes. ("And They Lived...")
