—Morraine to Baelfire src

Morraine is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. She débuts in the eighth episode of the first season. She is portrayed by guest star Conner Dwelly and does not have a Storybrooke counterpart.

History

Before First Curse

On her fourteenth birthday, Morraine comes of age, and the Duke's men come to enlist her in the Ogre War to be trained as a soldier. The local village residents, including Rumplestiltskin and his son, Baelfire, look on in horror as her parents plea for their daughter not to be taken away. One of the soldiers, Hordor, is unmoved and instead cruelly orders a mysterious being known as the Dark One to subdue them with magic. ("Desperate Souls")

After Rumplestiltskin, having become the next Dark One, arranges a truce in the war, all the children who are forced to fight as soldiers are able to return home. Morraine resumes her life in the village but is changed since her time there and carries an air of maturity. Unlike the other children who run away in fear of Baelfire because of the notorious reputation of his father, she does not see him or Rumplestiltskin as threats. She remains friends with Baelfire; claiming to be unafraid of Rumplestiltskin and even describes the miraculous scene on the battlefield when he stopped the Ogre Wars for good with his presence alone. Baelfire voices his worries to Morraine about his father's terrible need for magic and power, so she suggests possibly calling upon the "Reul Ghorm" for help. ("The Return")
