Captain Nemo to Hook src

Krakens are a creature species featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. They are native to the Enchanted Forest, and first appear in the sixth episode of the sixth season.

Krakens are based on the creature of the same name from the mythology, and an allusion to the Giant Squids from the novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and the Disney film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Krakens are huge sea creatures that are different from the Giant Squids. However, they are not as large as the mythological kraken, and come in different sizes. Their tentacles are strong enough to latch onto a human and drag them away. They are also known to be very dangerous, as many seamen prefer to run away from them. However, according to Hook, this attitude made them unable to expect hunters. ("Dark Waters", "A Wondrous Place")

Krakens' blood can be used to travel between any world. ("A Wondrous Place")
