History

Before First Curse

Acting in place of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, Rumplestiltskin secures a deal with Ella before magicking her into a blue gown to wear to the upcoming ball, in addition to giving her a pair of glass slippers. At the ball, Ella makes a strong impression on Prince Thomas, however, her stepmother Lady Tremaine convinces her that the prince is only playing with her feelings for him. An upset Ella then flees from the ball, and in her haste to get away, one of her slippers ends up left behind on the staircase. After hearing from her stepsister Clorinda that Thomas is looking for her, Ella hopes to use the remaining slipper she has as proof of her identity, but Tremaine threatens to destroy it unless Ella reveals where Clorinda and her beau have run off to. Although Ella forfeits Clorinda's whereabouts, Tremaine cruelly shatters the slipper anyway, seemingly destroying Ella's chance with Thomas. Ella is then locked up by her stepmother to keep the prince from finding her, but with help from Gus, Thomas is able to free her. Thomas proposes to Ella, and after she accepts, he suggests getting help from the royal glass blower to fashion new slippers for the wedding. ("The Price of Gold", "The Other Shoe")
