Biography

Paul Karp is a former student at the New York University, from which he graduated in 2008 with a degree in Media, Culture and Communication and a minor in Producing. After graduating, Karp moved to LA to pursue a career in television.[2]

From 2007 to 2008, he served as an intern at various production companies - including Fox Broadcasting Company, Technicolor and MTV Network. He was the Post Production Coordinator for the MTV reality television shows 50 Cent: The Money and the Power and Bully Beatdown. He later served as a production assistant for the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid.[3]

From 2010 to 2011, he served as a writer's assistant on the police procedural drama series Detroit 1-8-7.[3] When the pilot was inching toward a series pick-up, he was able to fill in for a friend who worked as an assistant to the showrunner, David Zabel, and the creator of the show, Jason Richman. When his friend returned, Karp was asked to stay on as a writer's assistant.[2]

He then served as a post production assistant on the supernatural teen drama The Secret Circle. In 2015, he was hired as a writer's assistant for ABC's Once Upon a Time.[3] He also wrote the teleplay for the Season Six episode "Mother's Little Helper", based on a story by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. Karp later earned another writer's credit when he wrote the script for the Season Seven episode "Chosen" with Brian Ridings.
