Dodos are a creature species featured in the extended universe of ABC's Once Upon a Time. They are native to Wonderland, and first appear, with their only appearance, in the graphic fiction novel, Out of the Past.
Dodos are based on the character of the same name from the novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
In Wonderland, the Dodo is strolling down a road when he stops to greet Jefferson, who asks him directions to a mansion of a well-to-do figure. The Dodo nervously states he must take the left path, and just as Jefferson thanks him and prepares to leave, the Dodo warns him not go because the house belongs to the sadist March Hare, who wears a hat out of the hares he has hunted. Brushing off the Dodo's words, Jefferson continues on, believing he himself will be fine since he isn't a hare. ("Out of the Past")
