The Carpenter is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. He débuts, with his only appearance, in the sixth episode and is portrayed by co-star John Prowse.
The Carpenter is based on the character of the same name from the novel Through the Looking-Glass, and the Carpenter from the animated Disney film Alice in Wonderland.
History
At some point, the Carpenter arrives to the Boro Grove and falls under the spell of the aromatic tree flowers, which make him forgets all his troubles. As he stays, a girl, Alice, wanders in. He introduces the place to her, and though Alice attempts to explain her urgency to rescue a person named Cyrus, she quickly forgets as the perfumed flowers influence her into staying in the forest. Knave, comes to fetch Alice, but he only suspects the Carpenter did something to her and interrogates him. The Carpenter, unresponsive with a frozen smile, is ensnared with greenery to begin his transformation into one of the Boro Grove's trees. As Knave notices what is going on, the Carpenter eerily remarks, "It makes you want to stay." Fearing Alice will face the same fate, Knave convinces Alice, by helping her remember Cyrus' necklace, to leave the Boro Grove with him. With her memories restored, she departs with her companion to resume searching for Cyrus while the Carpenter, presumably too far gone, cannot be helped. ("Who's Alice")
