And do you, Snow White, promise to take this man to be your husband and love him for all eternity?
—The Bishop to Snow White src

The Bishop is a character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He débuts in the first episode of the first season. He is portrayed by co-star Tom Pickett, and it is currently unknown if he has a Storybrooke counterpart.

History

Before First Curse

The kingdom gathers to celebrate Snow White and Prince Charming's wedding, which is performed by the Bishop at the royal castle. After the clergyman pronounces them husband and wife, the uninvited Evil Queen storms into the ceremony. The Bishop as well as the guests witness in shock as the witch threatens to destroy the couple's happiness if it is the last thing she does. ("Pilot", "The Thing You Love Most", "The New Neverland", "Heartless")

During Alternate Reality

After Isaac rewrites everyone's story in the Heroes and Villains book, the Bishop maintains his role as wedding officiant. At the church, he pronounces Zelena and Robin Hood married, but it doesn't take much longer before Henry takes on the Author's mantle and rewrites everyone back to their original story. ("Operation Mongoose Part 2")

Trivia

Script Notes

  • The original script of the pilot features an additional line said by the Bishop: "I believe you know what comes next", meaning that bride and groom could kiss.[1]
    • Also, his line was slightly changed in the final version, with the Bishop originally saying "man and wife" instead of "husband and wife".[1]
