SCENE: Agrabah. Past. Many years ago. A young boy named Jafar is tending to his mother Ulima on her death bed.

Jafar: Please, don't leave me, mâmân. Tell me what to do. What herbs shou—
Ulima: There is nothing left to do, Jafar.
Jafar: Don't say that. You're a healer. You've cured many others.
Ulima: I fear I am beyond help. It's my time, I'm sorry.
Jafar: (Tearfully) What will I do? Where will I go?
Ulima: Worry not, noore cheshmam. You will be cared for.
Jafar: By who?
Ulima: Your father.
Jafar: I-I don't understand. Father died when I was...
Ulima: Your father—your real father—still lives, Jafar. Go to him. At the palace.
Jafar: But only the Sultan lives there.
Ulima: That's right, Jafar.
Jafar: He's my father?
Ulima: (Slips a ring on his finger) This belonged to him. Return it. He will remember. You are his blood. He will not turn you away. (She passes away.)
(A magic dust evaporates out of Ulima. Jafar cries over her body.)

SCENE: Victorian England. Present. Edwin's house. Jafar, disguised as a doctor, is conversing with him.

Jafar: You must be worried sick about Alice. I know how protective fathers are when it comes to their children.
Edwin: Yes, of course.
Jafar: I remember when Alice came to us at Bethlem. I've seen so many patients over the years, but she was special. Obviously well cared for. I knew she must have come from a loving home.
Edwin: That's very kind, doctor. But can you tell me where exactly it is that she's gone to?
Jafar: It's better if I just show you. (He opens a bag and speaks into it.) Rabbit.
White Rabbit: (Pokes his head out) Hello. (Steps out of bag) (Edwin looks shocked.) (To Jafar) If you're just going to show me off, was the bag really necessary?
Edwin: Is that... a White Rabbit?
White Rabbit: (Shaking head) They're always in shock. Yes, I'm a White Rabbit. (Studies Edwin's face) Alice's father? Hmm, I don't see the resemblance.
Jafar: (To Edwin) Come with me.
(At the wall, the White Rabbit is opening up a hole.)
Edwin: Dear god. What's happening? Where are you taking me?
(The White Rabbit jumps into the hole.)
Jafar: Some people call it Wonderland.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Edwin, Jafar and the White Rabbit all fall through the hole to a road in Wonderland. Edwin has a rough landing, while the other two do not.

White Rabbit: Hm. The tourist landing is always a rough one.
Jafar: Thank you for your service. Now be off with you.
White Rabbit: Are you sure you don't want me to just stay and...
Jafar: Off.
White Rabbit: Alright, well, you know where to find me. Unfortunately. (Walks away)
Jafar: (To Edwin) Now, I'm sure you have many questions.
Edwin: It's not possible. I daresay it's a hallucination of some kind. Or per chance a dream.
Jafar: I assure you it's quite real, sir. As real as the bruises you feel from that fall. As real as your daughter said it was. Every bit as wondrous. And even more dangerous. It's truly no place for a young girl. There are dark forces in Wonderland, sir. Creatures, villains. I tried to convince Alice to leave, but she associates me with the hospital and won't listen. That's why I came to fetch you. What child doesn't want to be rescued by their father?
Edwin: I-I'm sorry. (Takes out a cloth and begins wiping his glasses) I fear I may be the last person Alice would listen to.
Jafar: I don't understand.
Edwin: Alice and I, we've always had a difficult relationship. After the way I treated her, I never believed in her. I don't see why she would ever believe in me.
Jafar: That's a shame. I had hope there would be a bond between you. In fact, I was counting on it.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice and Knave sight Jafar's lair in the distance of a mountain top as they walk through the woods.

Alice: Jafar's tower. It's so close. I could be with Cyrus by nightfall.
Knave: It's a way up high bloody mountain, isn't it?
Alice: So we'll hike.
Knave: I'm sayin' we should probably formulate some kind of plan. There are gonna be guards up there, big hairy ones, I reckon. And then if we do get inside, we've got to find Cyrus. And if we do find Cyrus, we've got to get out alive. Which, again, with the big hairy guards.
Alice: Finding Cyrus is ninety-nine percent of the battle. The rest will take care of itself. (Continues walking)
They reach a clearing in the woods near a lake. Alice is stunned to see the tower is actually a floating island in the air.)
Alice: Oh, my.
Knave: You were saying?

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. The Red Queen's palace throne room. Tweedledum saunters up to report news to her.

Tweedledum: We're searched the shore, Your Majesty. There are no signs of Cyrus.
Red Queen: Keep looking. (To herself) He can't have just vanished.
Tweedledum: Actually, isn't vanishing one of the things that genies can do?
Red Queen: (Descending throne) Shut up.
Tweedledum: He dove a thousand feet down into the water below. Have you ever considered the possibility that... he didn't survive the fall?
Red Queen: Have you considered the possibility that you are a lazy imbecile?
Tweedledum: Is that a rhetorical question?
Red Queen: With Jafar out of Wonderland, I have the opportunity to gain the upper hand.
(Jafar enters the room to stand behind her.)
Red Queen: I already have the bottle. I want the genie in my possession before Jafar— (Pauses and looks at Tweedledum's expression) —what is it?
Jafar: Please continue, Your Majesty. "Before Jafar" what?
Red Queen: (Turns around with a look of feigned concern) Darling, there you are. I have been worried sick.
Jafar: Have you?
Red Queen: Yes. You disappeared without even as much as a note.
Jafar: I don't have time for your games. Just tell me where I can find Alice.
Red Queen: I'm quite happy to. She's easy to find unlike that genie of hers.
Jafar: What are you talking about?
Red Queen: While you were gone, your fancy silver prison developed a circal shaped hole.
Jafar: The genie escaped?
Red Queen: It would so appear.
Jafar: (To the Red Queen's soldiers) Find him! I want every—
Red Queen: Jafar, my men answer to me. They already have their orders. The genie will be back in our hands before the sun sets. (As she walks past, Jafar grips her wrist.)
Jafar: Do not forget. Even if you hold the genie and the bottle, you can't live out your twisted dreams without someone changing the Magic#Laws of Magicrules of magic. And I am the only one who will have that power.
Red Queen: Of course you are, darling.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Jafar strolls into the lair to examine Cyrus' empty cage.

Jafar: (To old prisoner) You!
Old Prisoner: Does it matter? He's gone. It's only a matter of time before he and the girl find each other and when they do—
Jafar: SILENCE!
Old Prisoner: You are losing, Jafar.
Jafar: I'm not the one in the cage.
Old Prisoner: Are you certain of that?
(They stare at each other for several seconds before Jafar leaves.)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. In a separate lair room, Edwin is being held captive in a chair. He wakes up as Jafar comes in.

Edwin: Where am I?
(Jafar draws a needle while Edwin looks down to see he is shackled to the chair with binds.)
Jafar: I apologize for the restraints, old chap, but it will make this part easier. (Approaches with needle)
Edwin: What part? (He grunts in pain as Jafar extracts blood from his arm.) Dear god. You're insane.
(Jafar looks at him wordlessly as he empties the syringe's contents in a cup and adds another ingredient to it.)
Edwin: What are you doing?
(The contents of the cup gives off a green smoke.)
Jafar: Giving Alice what she's always wanted.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. As Alice and Knave look up at the floating lair, they try to figure out a strategy.

Knave: How are we supposed to get up there, then?
Alice: I'm sure we'll figure out something. (Pulls out sword and stabs it into the ground) (She starts fumbling around her pockets.)
Knave: What are you doing?
Alice: Checking inventory. Come on. Empty them. There has to be something in there that can help us.
(They both pull out various things from their pockets.)
Knave: (Looking at the item in his palm) Let's see. Dice, a dollar bill, keys to Granny's... she's going to be right pissed about that... (Pulls out things from another pocket) Lint and a peanut. (Eats peanut, then spits it out) Stale peanut.
Alice: Well, I have a dagger, a sword and a handkerchief. And my last two wishes. We just have to be creative and think.
(They hear a bird call in the distance.)
Alice: What's that chirping?
Knave: I'm no wildlife expert, but my rough guess is a bird.
Alice: I don't think so. I think... (They go to investigate and find a swaying tree with golden leaves.) It's a birdbark tree.
Knave: Birdbark tree?
Alice: Yes, their wood is amazing. (She pulls out a branch and releases it.) Look. (The branch floats into the air.) I know how we're going to do it.
Knave: Oh, bloody hell. You think we're going to fly up to your genie?
Alice: (Smiles) Something like that.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. In the lair, Jafar continues to mix ingredients into the cup.

Jafar: (To Edwin) Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Edwin: I don't understand. Why are you asking me all these questions? Where's Alice?
Jafar: Right-handed or left? I couldn't tell.
Edwin: Where's my daughter?
Jafar: Come now, Edwin, I think it's obvious we don't have time to win back Alice's love. (He magically takes off Edwin's binds.) So I'm going to have to steal it.
(Edwin attempts to punch him, but Jafar grabs his arm.)
Jafar: Left-handed, then. (Pushes Edwin back into the chair) Thank you. (Edwin tries to get back up, but is pushed down again.) Guards! (They enter.) Find a cage for him.
(Jafar slips off his ring, tucks it away in his clothes and departs from the room.)

SCENE: Agrabah. Past. A young Jafar is being hauled into the Sultan's throne room by a guard.

Palace Guard: A young thief, Your Majesty. He stole a dagger right off my belt.
Sultan: (To Jafar) You stole from a palace guard. You thought this was a good idea?
Jafar: I know it was not.
Sultan: Yet, you did it anyway. You understand that as punishment by law, you are to lose the hand from which you stole.
Jafar: (Steps toward and kneels to hold out his hand with the ring on his finger) If you deem it best.
Sultan: (Noticing ring) Where did you get that, boy?
Jafar: My mother.
Sultan: What is her name?
Jafar: Look at my face and tell me.
Sultan: Ulima. Ulima is your mother. How is she?
Jafar: She is dead.
Sultan: I am sorry to hear that. You knew what you were doing when you stole from my guard, didn't you?
Jafar: I thought... if you knew who I was that—
Sultan: I would take you in?
Jafar: My mother said—
Sultan: I have a son. My heir Mirza who is—
Jafar: I don't need to be a prince, sir. Just a son.
Sultan: You will be neither. (Gestures for Jafar to rise, which he does) But it takes courage to do what you have done today, and because of that, you can stay here. (Jafar sighs in relief.) As a serving boy to my family.
Jafar: (His smile falters.) Thank you, Father.
Sultan: (He rises from throne and descends to stand before Jafar.) You will not use that word. I am not your father. And you are not my son. You are but a poor orphan who is lucky to have gained my favor. Is that clear?
Jafar: Yes, I understand the rules, sir.
Sultan: See that you remember them. (Motions to guard, who takes away Jafar)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice and Knave are near by the riverside that overlooks the floating lair. From the brush, Jafar is spying on them. Knave hurls a rock into the water.

Knave: (To Alice) Any chance you plan on telling me what you're doing?
Alice: Certainly. Have you ever been in a hot air balloon?
Knave: If I say no, do I get to stay here on the ground?
Alice: We're going to build a basket big enough to hold us. Then, we are going to attach pieces of the bird bark we found and we'll just... float right up to Cyrus.
Knave: Nice plan. Count me out.
Alice: Do you have a fear of flying?
Knave: No, I have a fear of not flying. Of being in your basket, a mile up in the air and suddenly no longer flying.
(Jafar pulls out the potion.)
Alice: Well, if you're not going to go up with me, at least help me build it.
(Jafar begins drinking the potion.)
Knave: That I can do. Come on then, let's start gathering some wood.
(The effects of the potion stun Jafar into falling off his feet. Magic courses throughout his body.)
(From the woods, Alice and Knave hears someone screaming.)
Alice: What was that?
Knave: (Picking up a stick) Show yourself!
(Alice unsheathes her sword as Jafar, disguised as Edwin, stumbles out of the brush.)
Alice: (In shock) Oh my god. Father.
Knave: Father?
Jafar: (As Edwin) Alice? It's you. Oh, thank god. You were right about everything. This place. Can you ever forgive me? (He hugs a dazed Alice.)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice is talking to her "father" while Knave sits nearby on a rock.

Alice: How did you get here?
Jafar: (As Edwin) After you escaped the asylum, the way you just vanished, it made no sense. Then... then, I remembered something else that made no sense. Your stories. So I decided to do what you asked and believed. I did some research and it led me on the path to an antiquities dealer who sold me a full-length mirror rumored to have special properties. The rumors were true. I went through it. I could feel sunshine on the other side and a breeze. It was curious.
Alice: Indeed.
Knave: That's how Anastasia and I came here as well. Through a looking glass.
Jafar: (As Edwin) As soon as I arrived, I knew it was the Wonderland that you spoke of.
Alice: How did you find me here?
Jafar: (As Edwin) I didn't. You found me, remember? I've been wandering around for days until you stumbled upon me.
Alice: Either way, now what?
Jafar: (As Edwin) I just want... (Takes out glasses, and cleans them with a cloth) to make it up to. For ever—
Alice: (Angrily) Make it up to me? Father, you never treated me like a daughter. You treated me like an obligation. Like a part of your life you had no choice but to tolerate. Like that creaky step in the hall that you never could fix. You just walk by it everyday wondering why it stop making noise. Wish it would just go away. How do you intend to make that up to me?
Jafar: (As Edwin) Alice... put yourself in my shoes. The things you were saying... they impossible to believe.
Alice: Impossible for you to believe.
Jafar: (As Edwin) I believe you now.
Alice: Of course you do now that you can see it for yourself. I needed you to believe me, to believe in me. You just left me there in that madhouse! Ignored me like I didn't even exist! How can a father treat their child like that? I said I didn't want to see you, but I wanted you to try.
Jafar: (As Edwin) This is me trying.
Alice: Well, it's too late. (She walks off.)

SCENE: Agrabah. Past. Jafar has taken on his role as a serving boy in the palace. In the throne room, he stands by as an active discussion between some diplomats and the Sultan is going on. The Sultan's son Mirza is also present.

Sultan: (To Diplomat) My son Mirza has heard tell of your fabrics.
Diplomat: We will send the young prince some fine robes, Your Majesty, perhaps after the supply blockade with our northern neighbor has been broken.
Sultan: I am afraid we cannot break the blockade for you. (To son) Mirza, explain the reason why to our friend.
Mirza: It is against policy.
Diplomat: What policy is that?
Sultan: (Looking at son expectantly) We spoke of it last night. The water.
Mirza: Yes.
Jafar: Farm policy.
(The diplomats begin whispering in surprise at Jafar's response. The Sultan looks caught off guard.)
Jafar: Your mills divert water from their crops. Agrabah can't interfere in any action taken by them to protect their harvest.
Sultan: (To Diplomats) In Agrabah, even our servants are educated. (All chuckle. Jafar smiles.) Although, not discreet. (Jafar looks crestfallen.) (To Jafar) That will be enough, boy. You are dismissed.
Jafar: My apologies, Fa— (The Sultan flashes him a cold look.) My apologies. (He exits the room.)

SCENE: Agrabah. Past. In the servants' quarters, Jafar is inspecting the ring his mother gave him when Mirza walks in.

Mirza: You're very smart, serving boy. What's your name?
Jafar: Jafar.
Mirza: No, the correct answer is "I am too lowly for my name to abuse the ears of the prince." (He slaps Jafar.) Now what's your name?
Jafar: (Pauses) It is too low— (He is slapped again by Mirza.)
Mirza: Eyes down!
(From behind, the Sultan enters in.)
Mirza: Apologies, Father.
Sultan: No apologies needed, son. Give him another one.
(His son hits Jafar.)
Sultan: (To Mirza) If you are to be Sultan one day, people must fear you. You are blood of my blood and my only heir, Mirza. True power comes from fear.
(Mirza slaps Jafar once more.)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. "Edwin" is talking to Knave as he is collecting branches to build a basket.

Jafar: (As Edwin) I was a terrible father, wasn't I?
Knave: Not my place to say. Here. (Hands him a knife) Cut off some branches, won't ya?
Jafar: (As Edwin) (Picks up a branch) Can I ask what for?
Knave: Alice has a plan to get into that castle you might have noticed floating up in the sky.
Jafar: (As Edwin) And what is there that is so important?
Knave: Genie in the dungeon.
Jafar: (As Edwin) Ah. Cyrus. Is that where she believes he is?
Knave: Yep.
Jafar: (As Edwin) You and my daughter... you're close.
Knave: Yeah. We're mates. Good mates.
Jafar: (As Edwin) So you understand her? The way she thinks?
Knave: You bet.
Jafar: (As Edwin) Would you have any advice on how to heal the rift between us?
Knave: Sometimes these things just take time.
Jafar: (As Edwin) In my experience, when a father has treated his child poorly, it takes a great deal more than time to make things right.
Knave: She'll come around. Alice doesn't give up on people. Not even if they deserve it.
Jafar: (As Edwin) Like yourself?
Knave: If she sees someone hurting, she can't help but get rid of their pain. It's in her nature.
Jafar: (As Edwin) I guess it is, isn't it? Thank you.
Knave: Just so you know, I ain't said none of these to help you. Far as I can tell, you've been nothing but a right bastard. I want Alice to be happy and I think having you step up and be a decent father will make her happy. Now, if you want to take the first step with your daughter, help her find her genie. Because nothing, and I mean nothing, means more to her than getting to him.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. On a sandy shoreline, Cyrus is lying unconscious.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice and Knave are steadily working on the basket by building branch slants.

Alice: What were you and my father talking about?
Knave: What do you think? You.
Alice: What about me?
Knave: If you'd ever forgive him blah, blah blah.
Alice: Do you think I should forgive him?
Knave: Definitely not. But I think you will.
Alice: (Confused look) Why's that?
Knave: Because that's the right thing to do, Alice. And you are like me. We usually do the right thing.
(Nearby, "Edwin" peeks over at the pair busy at work. He snaps a branch and draws a figure in the sand while reciting a summoning incantation.)
Jafar (as Edwin): Ego vocare tē dolor. Ego vocare tē damnum. Ego vocare tē, faciam scelus.
Knave: So, question. Have you thought about how we're going to get back down?
Alice: What do you mean?
Knave: The bird bark will get your basket up there, but unless you invented a parachute park, I think you might be in trouble.
Alice: Actually, I've done a calculation. And with the additional weight of Cyrus in the basket, the three of us will counteract the upwards subjugatory of the bird bark, causing a slow and steady descent down the water.
Knave: You're just completely making this up, aren't ya?
Alice: (Smiles) It's physics, Knave.
Knave: (Pointing to floating lair) Look up there. You see how high it is? If you're wrong, we're dead.
Alice: (Sights something in the sky) What's that?
Knave: (Looks up) What's what?
(In the distance, something with a pair of wings is flying at them.)
Alice: In the sky. It's coming towards us. It looks like some—
(She and Knave cover their ears as the creature, a dragon, lets out a bellowing screech at them.)
Knave: What the bloody hell is that?!
(They hit the ground as the dragon swoops down. It begins circling back to take another plummet.)
Knave: Alice, here! (They grab the bound-up branch slants to use as shields when the dragon spits out fire at them.)
(Both drop the slants once the dragon retreats temporarily into the sky.)
Knave: We need to move. Come on, follow me.
Alice: Father, this way!
(The trio race through the woods and reach a dead-end at a forest clearing.)
Alice: (To "Edwin") Are you alright?
Jafar: (As Edwin) Yes, fine.
Knave: I think we've lost it.
Alice: (Looking up at sky) Not even close.
(The dragon sights them in the clearing and sweeps down.)
Alice: Run! (She and Knave take off.)
("Edwin" remains transfixed in his standing position. The dragon pushes him to the ground, and takes another in-coming dive at him.)
Alice: Father, run!
(The dragon lands and roars in fury at "Edwin", who is too terrified to move.)
Alice: FATHER!
Jafar: (As Edwin) Alice, help!
(She pulls out her sword at the approaching beast.)
Knave: Alice, no!
Alice: STAY AWAY! (Throws sword and impales dragon)
(The dragon collapses, giving one final breath of fire, before dying.)
Alice: (Kneeling over "Edwin") Father! Are you alright?
Jafar: (As Edwin) Yes, I'm fine. (She helps him up.) Alice, thank you. (She smiles in relief and hugs him.)
Alice: It's okay, Father. It's all right.
Jafar: (As Edwin) I am so sorry. When your mother died, everything just fell apart.
Alice: I understand. I know what it's like to lose someone you love.
Jafar: (As Edwin) The way I treated you... (Voice breaking) you must think me to be a horrible man.
Alice: (Shakes head) I know what a horrible man is. I faced one here in Wonderland. And you are nothing like him.
Jafar: (As Edwin) You don't know how happy that makes me to hear.
Alice: (Examining his face wound) We should get that cleaned up.
Jafar: (As Edwin) Oh, of course.
Alice: As soon as it gets dark, we are going to try again. To rescue Cyrus. Would you like to come with us?
Jafar: (As Edwin) Yes, I believe I would. (He goes off to clean up at a stream. In the water, his reflection is that of Jafar, and not Edwin.)

SCENE: Agrabah. Past. Jafar cleans his face with water in the washing room of the palace. He looks up into the mirror to see the Sultan arriving in.

Jafar: Your Majesty. (Turns around) I'm so sorry for my carelessness. It won't happen again.
Sultan: I know. I'm glad you now understand the importance of discretion.
Jafar: Of course.
Sultan: I am sorry about Mirza, but sometimes have to do difficult things to ensure our children are raised properly. (Jafar nods and smiles in understanding.) Dry your face.
(Jafar turns around to grab a rag when the Sultan dunks his head into the water basin. The boy struggles, but is held underwater long enough until he drowns and goes limp. The Sultan drags his body and places him on the ground.)
Sultan: It's done. (The palace guards enter in.) Put him out with the rest of the refuse. (He leaves the room.)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. In the lair, the real Edwin is trapped inside one of Jafar's holding cages. His only meal is a bowl of thin soup. Edwin begins saying grace.

Edwin: Bless us, O Lord, and these, thy gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty. Amen. (Drinks soup)
Old Prisoner: I hope your gods have better hearing than mine.
Edwin: My god hears every prayer even in a place like this.
Old Prisoner: Then why not pray for freedom, my friend? Or at least something better to eat.
Edwin: My prayers are all for my daughter. She's in grave danger and it's my fault she's here at all.
Old Prisoner: You cannot shoulder all the blame.
Edwin: I sent her away when I should have believed in her. Kept her safe. That is my great sin.
Old Prisoner: Then you have sinned very little, my friend. There are far worse reasons to be in a cage, believe me.
Edwin: (Gets up and grips cage bars) Please, I must find her. Do you know of any way out of here?
Old Prisoner: Only one man ever escaped from this prison. And I expect to see Cyrus returned in chains at any moment.
Edwin: Cyrus? Alice's Cyrus?
Old Prisoner: You know of Alice?
Edwin: She's my daughter. Please, tell me what you know. What does that man want with her?
Old Prisoner: I know of only one thing Jafar desires and it's the one thing he shall never have.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. At nightfall, Alice, "Edwin" and Knave are sitting around a toasty campfire. Alice is cooking some of the meat from the slain dragon as their evening meal. She hands a stick of meat to Knave.

Knave: So tell me, Edwin, have you ever eaten something that's tried to kill you before?
Jafar: (As Edwin) No, I don't believe I have.
Knave: It's sort of a Wonderland rite-of-passage.
Alice: (Passing a stick of meat) Here you go, Father.
Jafar: (As Edwin) (Takes it) Thank you. (He takes a bite of the meat.)
(Alice watches him with a surprised expression.)
Jafar: (As Edwin) It's not bad, actually.
Alice: Not exactly a home-cooked meal, but it will do.
Jafar: (As Edwin) So, once you and Cyrus are reunited, what then? Do you have a way to get out of Wonderland?
Alice: I do, actually, but one step at a time. Oh, Will, looks like the tide's come in. Could you help me move the wood away from the water? Excuse us.
(They begin walking away from the campfire and reach a considerable distance.)
Knave: Alice, I have to tell ya. I don't think bringing your father along with us is the best idea.
Alice: I couldn't agree with you more.
Knave: Really?
Alice: He's a problem.
Knave: Because he'll get in the way.
Alice: Because he's not who he seems. Every meal I've ever had with my father could not begin without saying grace. He'd say it before eating a piece of fruit he picked from the garden. But not tonight. On a night he'd be more grateful than ever. (She briefly turns to look back at the imposter Edwin, who smiles at her.) I don't know who that man is, but he's not my father. Come on, follow me.
(Jafar watches the pair continue to walk away. He leaves the campsite to summon his serpent staff from the ground. The disguise of Edwin melts off.)

SCENE: Agrahah. Past. On the outskirts of town, Jafar's corpse lies in an open body bag. A magic dust blows into his face. Jafar awakens and discovers where he is. A look of contempt crosses his face.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Jafar stalks into the lair to magically push Edwin's cage towards the platform ledge and the door is unlocked.

Jafar: You.
Edwin: What? (Jafar tugs him out of the cage.) What are you doing with me?
Jafar: Seeing that you fulfill the purpose for which you were brought here.
Edwin: What's that?
Jafar: (Hauls Edwin by the arm) To die.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice and Knave are trekking up a mountain cliff path.

Alice: I'm sorry, Will.
Knave: For what?
Alice: For having to run. If I didn't want to be true so badly, I wouldn't have let myself leave. And let my guard down. It won't happen again.
Knave: You've got nothing to apologize for.
(In the distance, they hear someone yelling. On a magic carpet, Jafar is forcing Edwin to come along for the ride. He stops the carpet right in front of Alice and Knave.)
Jafar: (To Edwin) Beg for your life, fool. Your daughter is the only one who can save it. (He magically lifts Edwin and dangles him over the open sea.)
Alice: Is this where you threaten him until I make a wish? You need a new trick, Jafar.
Jafar: I'll get a new trick when this one stops working.
Edwin: Don't do it.
Alice: Save your breath, whoever you are. I know you're not my father.
Edwin: Alice, I don't know what kind of deception this man pulled before, but it's me, sweetheart. Oh hell, I don't blame you for not knowing the difference between me and an imposter. I never treated you as a real father should. Instead, I blamed you. I blamed you for your mother's death. I blamed you for all my unhappiness. And then, when you were finally able to find joy, I doubted you. Doubted your ability to distinguish fantasy from reality. Doubted your love.
Alice: (Tearfully) Father. The times I ran away, I was just trying to find proof so you'd understand where I'd been.
Edwin: You shouldn't have had to prove it to me. For all those reasons and a thousand more, I will not ask for your forgiveness because I do not deserve it. And I will not ask for your mercy or compassion because it is better spent elsewhere. I do not want to take another thing away from you, dear Alice. I only want to give you something, the only thing I can, and that's hope. Cyrus has escaped.
Jafar: That's enough!
Alice: Cyrus?!
Edwin: Don't save me, save him!
Jafar: STOP! (Drops Edwin as he begins plummeting into the sea)
Alice: I wish my father back home!
(Edwin disappears.)
Jafar: Two down and one to go. Now, Alice, it's not a matter of if I'll have your genie, but when. (Takes off on the carpet)

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Alice sheds tears over what previously took place.

Knave: Alice, I'm sorry. Really. Very sorry.
Alice: I'm not.
Knave: You had to use your sec—
Alice: Yesterday I had two holes in my life. One that my father left and then Cyrus. Today I know that my father understands and I know that Cyrus is out here somewhere and we're going to find each other. Wish or no wish, I count that as a victory.
Knave: Okay, yeah. But you used a pretty big wish there and you've always said those come with a cost. Only question is what that cost is going to be.

SCENE: Victorian England. Present. Edwin awakens, startled, with his forehead covered in sweat, in his study room. His wife Sarah comes in to check up on him.

Sarah: Edwin. What's wrong?
Edwin: I don't know. I thought... I was with Alice. That place she spoke of named Wonderland. I... I was about to die and then she saved me.
Sarah: Sounds like you must have dozed off and had a very odd dream.
Edwin: I guess it was a dream. It must've been.
Sarah: Come up to bed, darling. (She places a kiss on his temple.)
Edwin: I'll be right there.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Jafar returns to the lair and reels down the old prisoner's cage to the platform.

Jafar: Let's have a chat, shall we?
Old Prisoner: I'm done speaking through bars. If you want to chat, do it face-to-face like a man.

SCENE: Agrabah. Past. Mayhem reigns in the palace as an older Jafar forces his way into the throne room. He easily casts aside the guards that try to stop him on his way to the Sultan sitting on the throne.

Jafar: I have waited a long time to see you again.
Sultan: I don't even know who you are.
Jafar: Look at my face and tell me.
(The camera angle pans around to reveal the Sultan, now aged.)
Sultan: (Stands up and descends throne) Jafar? It's impossible.
Jafar: My anger kept me alive, Father.
Sultan: I am not your father. And you are not my son.
(Mirza walks into the throne room as Jafar turns to notice him.)
Jafar: Mirza. Stay a moment, will you? (Pulls out a knife and holds it to the Sultan's neck)
Sultan: Mirza. You can save me. Don't be frightened.
Jafar: He's right. Save your father, Mirza, and fight me. No magic, just you and me and our bare hands, you remember what's that like? If you win, I'll spare our father's life. What do you say? Is he worth it?
(Mirza slowly begins backing out of the room. He turns and flees, but Jafar uses his serpent staff to kill him instantly.)
Sultan: Mirza!
(Mirza collapses lifelessly.)
Sultan: You killed my son!
Jafar: (Pressing knife into the Sultan's neck) I am your son! He wouldn't even fight for you! But I would have died for you, Father, but you could not say the words.
Sultan: What words? What words do you want?
Jafar: (Removing knife) Call me your son.
Sultan: You are a bastard boy.
Jafar: Just say the words and I will spare you unending pain.
Sultan: I will never give you what you want.
Jafar: You will. Someday.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. The Old Prisoner stands before Jafar.

Old Prisoner: Why don't you just kill me, Jafar? You know I'm never going to give you what you want.
Jafar: Once I get Alice's third wish, I'll be able to change the laws of magic, which means you won't have to give me what I want. I'll just take it.
Old Prisoner: What is love and respect if it has to be stolen?
Jafar: You honestly have no regrets about our relationship? About anything you've done to me?
Old Prisoner: My only regret, Jafar, is that I didn't hold you under the water longer. But, perhaps I can make up for that now.
Jafar: Are you going to try to kill me again?
Old Prisoner: I know I cannot take your life, but I can take away something that matters even more to you.
Jafar: And what is that?
Old Prisoner: Me. (He backs away and lets himself drop down the platform into the lair's bottomless pit.)
(Jafar is momentarily stunned, but recovers by having his magic carpet catch and lift the Old Prisoner to safety.)
Jafar: Get back in your cage, Father. The real fun is about to begin. I'd hate for you to miss it.

SCENE: Wonderland. Present. Cyrus finally comes to at the shoreline.

Cyrus: Alice.
