Apollo Bars are candy bars featured on ABC's Once Upon a Time. They first appear in fifth episode of the first season.

History

During First Curse

In 1989, Emma and some children from her group home visit a movie theater in Minnesota to watch the Disney film, The Sword in the Stone. In the theater, Emma steals an Apollo candy bar from another person. As she takes a seat, an usher tells her not to do "it". She begins apologizing for stealing, but he points out that he is actually referring to something else. ("The Dark Swan")

In 2001, Emma and her boyfriend, Neal, shoplift at the Pay-Rite Market in Portland. Neal is stealing an Apollo bar from the counter just as a customer notices him and tries to raise the alarm. Emma manages to save them by feigning going into labor, which buys them enough time to run away. ("Tallahassee")

Ten years later, when Henry arrives for one of his therapy session with Archie, the boy shows Archie a flashlight and some Apollo bars he plans to bring with him to the mines while searching for proof of the Dark Curse. Bluntly, Archie puts a stop to his plans and refers to what Henry believes in as a "delusion". This crushes Henry's spirits and he runs away from the office in a distraught state. Shortly after, Archie and Emma receive news that Henry is nowhere to be found. Horrified, Archie realizes Henry ventured into the mines. His suspicions are confirmed when he arrives there and finds one of Henry's candy bars outside the entrance. ("That Still Small Voice")

Nicholas and Ava Zimmer attempt to steal food at the Dark Star Pharmacy by putting it into Henry's backpack, and frame him for it when they are caught. Among the stolen goods is an Apollo bar. The shop owner, Mr. Clark, calls Regina, who, when she arrives, notices up the Apollo bar, prompting her to say that Henry does not eat candy and knows better than to steal. She is confident that Henry is framed by the two orphans. ("True North")

As an upcoming storm is due to arrive soon, Mary Margaret goes shopping for supplies at the pharmacy. Kathryn Nolan, accompanied by Regina, is also browsing around. As Mary Margaret is grabbing an Apollo bar off the shelf, the two women bump into each other and their items spill onto the floor. ("7:15 A.M.")

Worried about Henry's state, Emma rushes an unconscious Henry to the hospital, where she attempts to work out a cause for why he fainted. She empties out Henry's backpack, and an Apollo bar falls out along with his storybook. ("A Land Without Magic")

After First Curse
In Neverland, Devin is approached by Emma, Mary Margaret and Regina, who ask for a message to be delivered to Henry. When Regina offers him an Apollo bar, he takes it and inhales the sweet scent, but then proceeds to chuck it into the jungle as he scoffs at them. ("Good Form")

During Second Curse
As Emma is walking Henry home from school in New York City, she buys him an Apollo candy bar at the drugstore. Henry correctly deduces that this means that she wishes to talk to him about her boyfriend, Walsh. ("New York City Serenade")

Before Third Curse
Merlin sits at the counter of Granny's Diner looking at some Apollo bars. When he picks one up to examine it, Emma walks up from behind, strangely getting a sense of déjà vu. Emma is unable to place where she has met Merlin before until he recalls a time during her childhood when he stopped her from taking an Apollo candy bar. ("The Bear and the Bow")

During Fifth Curse
While trick-or-treating on Halloween, Lucy rings on the doorbell of a house in her neighborhood. She hopes the owners will give her an Apollo bar, but is disappointed when she only receives a Milk Duds bar. ("Beauty")
